Stanfordville - William (Mike) Dillinger, Sr., 81, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 29, 2014. Mike was born on April 17, 1933 to Alfred and Marie (Hart) Dillinger. He was a lifelong resident of Stanfordville, NY.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet Krom, four children and their spouses, Kim and Eric Sprossel, William and Alicia Dillinger, Jr., Michael and Catherine Dillinger, and Lori and Michael Zampko. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Marc, Laurann, Billy, Michael, Mandy, Cat, Zach, Josh, Ben and seven great grandchildren, Jaylen, Alyssia, Teyden, Maliah, Hannah, Victoria, Alivia. He was uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Affectionately known by many as "Poppy", Mike was a rock for his family and friends. He was a "Master of all Trades"; an "Old" farmer, and talented carpenter. Mike was self-employed with Kimberly Farms and Mike Dillinger Building Contractor; he worked for a brief time in-between for HO Penn as a mechanic. His work ethic was impeccable and he was always willing to help others, one of his favorite expressions was "no problem". Even on his last day when we lost him he was out working to help his friend.
Mike was a Life Member of the Stanfordville Fire Company, serving in many capacities from fire truck driver, chief and commissioner. He enjoyed playing poker with his cronies at the fire house.
He loves beagles and leaves Roxie who is still looking for him. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and member of the Hunns Lake Rod & Gun Club.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Marie Dillinger and was the last to say good bye of his nine siblings, Helen Schultz, Marie Chadwell, Jean Funk, Merna Goyke, Darra Finkle, Myrtle Snyder, Alfred Dillinger, Jr., Charles Dillinger and Lucia Hawks.
Calling hours are Friday, January 2nd, 4 to 7 PM, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, S. Main St., Pine Plains. Members of the Stanford Fire Co. will conduct services at 6:45 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, 10 AM, at the Funeral Home. Mike will be escorted to the Stanford Cemetery by members of the Stanford Fire Co.
