It is with deep sadness, that the family of Bill Anglum shares the news of his passing on Sunday, August 29, after a brief illness.
Bill was born in Brooklyn, New York to Josephine and William Anglum.
He began his life of service to his country and community at the age of 17 when he joined the US Army.
Following his military service, Bill joined the NYPD in 1962 as a patrolman.
In 1965, Bill joined the department’s mounted patrol, proudly serving the city with his partner “Gannon”. He rose to the rank of Sergeant before retiring from the force in 1985.
After retirement he relocated to Hillsdale, New York where he got involved in local politics. Bill served first as a Town Judge and later as a County Supervisor for the Town of Hillsdale.
He was predeceased by his first wife Alice, brothers Robert and Frank Paul and sister Barbara Anglum.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory his wife Darlene, and daughters Colleen (Garr) and her husband Richard, and Michelle (Palmer) and husband Paul. PopPop also leaves his cherished grandchildren Melanie, Alissa and Joseph.
He is also survived by his sister Michelle Pasko, and nieces and nephews Jerry, Michael and Patricia Pasko as well as Robert and Donald Anglum and several great nieces and nephews.
Bill loved to work with his hands be it fixing cars, or furniture, or showing off his creative side with his cartoons.
Viewing hours are 4-6 pm, Thursday, September 2,2021 at Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 NY 22, Copake, NY 12516.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Our Lady of Hope, 8074 NY-22, Copake Falls, NY 12517. The Rev. George Brennan will officiate.
Interment will follow in the North Hillsdale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Salvation Army.
