Wayne J. Durant

Stanfordville- Wayne J. Durant, 68, a resident of Stanfordville, NY passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Durant was born on July 23, 1944 in Oneida, NY, the son of the late Leslie and Mabel (Ham) Durant.

He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 until 1972. Mr. Durant loved older cars and collected model cars. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved cats.

Wayne was a truck driver for EFCO Bakery Supply Co. in Poughkeepsie, NY, and Martin-Brower in Chester, NY, as well as several other companies. He was a hard worker his whole life.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Durant; three sons, Steven Durant of Purling, NY; Scott Durant of Cairo, NY; and Randy Durant of San Antonio, TX; a step-daughter, Dorothy Gannon of KY; four sisters, Marlene Sigler of Saugerties, NY; Patricia Purdy of Cairo, NY; Deborah Gallo of Quakertown, PA; and Karen Durant of Highland, NY; eight brothers, Richard Durant of San Antonio, TX; Gale Durant of Munnsville, NY; Gary Durant of Ocala, FL; Robert Durant of Philadelphia, PA; Brian Durant of Dixon, TN; Lynn Durant of Millerton, NY; Daryl Durant of Dixon, TN; and Roger Durant of Killeen, TX; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Michael N. Durant Sr., two brothers, Frederick J. Durant and William Thomas, and a wife Elma Marie Shakelton.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains, NY.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
