Vincent D. Traver Sr

Vincent D. Traver Sr., 83 of Hillsdale, NY passed away on Thursday December 20, 2012 at Fairview Commons in Gt. Barrington, MA. after a long illness.

He was born on June 25, 1929 in Palentown, NY a son of John and Jennie (Gray) Traver.

Mr. Traver had been employed as a technician with the Genex/Eastern Artificial Insemination Co-op based out of Ithaca, NY. He was one of five technicians that served all the dairy farms in Columbia County.

He was an avid bowler and had volunteered as a scout leader. Vincent was a member of the Columbia County Cooperative Extension 4-H and of the former Roeliff Jansen Lions Club. He loved nature, the outdoors, golfing, and farming but above all, he loved his wife and family.

He was pre deceased by his wife, Audrey (Brown) Traver on April 19, 1997. They had been married for 47 years and enjoyed a happy life together.

Survivors include his children, Janice Wrobel of Liverpool, NY, Beatrice Nester and husband Robert of Bowie, MD, Constance Dysard and husband John of Clayton, DE, Glenn Traver of New York, NY and Vincent Traver Jr. and wife Teri of Hillsdale, NY. He also leaves four grandchildren, Katie, Andrew, Sebastian and Miguel, a sister Frances Edick of Ilion, NY and a brother Donald Traver and wife Peggy of Kerhonksen, NY.

At. Mr. Traver's request, the services will be private, however the family has decided to honor him with A Celebration of Life on January 19, 2013 at 11:30 AM to which family and friends are invited. The celebration will take place at the Hillsdale Fire House, Route 22 in Hillsdale, NY.

Private interment will be in the North Hillsdale Cemetery.

Because of his love for nature and the outdoors, memorial contributions may be offered to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, PO Box 356, Millerton, NY 12546. It would make him happy to know that the farmland to which he visited as a technician would remain undeveloped for the residents of Hillsdale to enjoy as he so often did.
