Pine Plains, NY - Vincent A. DeMarinis, 87, a resident of Pine Plains since 1955, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT.
He was born on March 16, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Aurelio and Anita (Cefalu) DeMarinis.
Mr. DeMarinis honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a gunner's mate during World War II on an LST Ship.
Vincent was a member of the Pine Plains American Legion Post #426.
He worked as a cloth cutter, poultry farmer and was a custodian for the Pine Plains School District.
His hobbies included wood working, model ship making, radio control planes and ships, fencing, traveling and dancing. He also loved big band orchestras.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dolores (Calio) DeMarinis; a daughter, Anita DeMarinis of Pine Plains, NY; a granddaughter, Amanda Knamm; a grandson, Daniel Vincent Hess; and great grandson, Wyatt Knamm; and great granddaughter, Madeline Rose Knamm.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 pm on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main St. Pine Plains.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Pine Plains, NY with Fr. William White officiating.
Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains, NY.
