Thomas A. Lennon, 59 of Pine Plains, NY passed away on Thursday March 3, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on May 3, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY a son of the late Thomas J. and June R. (Neilson) Lennon.
Tom graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, class of 1969.
He then served with the Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Upon competion of his military service he moved to Pine Plains to be with family.
Fate then brought Tom and his future wife Maryanne together. They were married on November 17, 1973 in Pine Plains.
After a brief career as a corrections officer he then joined the Village of Pawling Police Department, ultimately becoming a deputy sheriff in Dutchess County where he remained for 25 years.
Along the way he made many friends and spent time on his various interests. He loved camping and boating with his family and was a life member of the Rogers Point Boat Club in Hyde Park. An avid reader, he was a highly skilled woodworker and craftsman. Tom was also a member of the IOOF, the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
He had many friends that he considered his extended family and his "second home" was the backyard garden where those closest to his heart gathered and shared stories and laughter. Tom could always be counted on for a funny anectode or a good zinger. His charm with the ladies was legendary! We will all miss him dearly.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Maryanne; their children, Kathleen and her fiance Warren Lounsbury, Richard Maus and his wife Renee, Christine Maus and her fiance Jose Rodriguez all of whom reside in Pine Plains. Also his grandchildren, Gregory and Richard Doyle, Katelyn and Courtney Brenner, Warren and Travis Lounsbury, Isabel Rodriguez, Gredaline George and Ronny and Lucas Lejeune.
Additionally he leaves his bothers and sisters in law, Gerard and Melissa Lennon and Brian and Kristen Lennon and a sister and brother in law, Elizabeth and James Anderson. Also, his in laws, Charles Hogan, Joseph and Gloria Colucci along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited and may call on Tuesday March 8, 2011 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St. in Pine Plains, NY.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 11AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Henry Wertz officiating.
Interment will military honors will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be offered to the Pine Plains Rescue Squad, Pine Plains NY 12567.
