Pine Plains - Thomas W. Johns Sr., 83, of Pine Plains, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 07, 2015 at New Britain Hospital in New Britain CT.
Born on October 2, 1931 in Pine Plains, he was the son of Selwyn and Elizabeth (Craighton) Johns.
On October 13, 1962, he married the love of his life Tracalea (Vossler) Johns in Chatham, NY. She survives at home.
Mr. Johns Sr. worked as a maintenance mechanic for the City of Poughkeepsie for over 20 years and later drove a school bus for the Pine Plains School District until his retirement in the late 1980's.
Tom enjoyed cars, racing, and especially loved working on his Mustang with his son Brian. He was also an avid reader, always keeping up with American History and keeping up to date on current events.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife Tracalea, Tom is survived by his three sons, Thomas Jr., of Pine Plains, NY, Brian of New Jersey, and Dennis of Rome, NY; four grandchildren, Katrina, Kara, Jennifer, and Mason as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street Pine Plains, NY on Friday, April 10, from 11:30 am to 2 pm.
Services will be held at the funeral home on April 10 at 2 pm with Rev. William Mayhew officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.
