Theodore E. “Big Ted” Baird, 73 a longtime local resident passed away on Friday October 26, 2018 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY.
He was born on January 29, 1945 in Barton, VT a son of the late Raymond and Mary Louise (Bean) Baird.
Ted worked at Yonderview Farm in Hillsdale for the Flood family along with his co-workers Larry, Hal, Darryl, Skip. Wilbur, Sonny and Tommy. Along with his wife Debbie he raised and taught his children the value of hard work and the dedication of family farming.
He loved country music, dancing, cooking for his family, milking his cows and playing epic games of “kick the can” with his kids, nieces and nephews.
In Ted’s eyes his grandchildren could do no wrong, but he would always give them a simple reminder to pick up their belongings because all knew that he did not like to have his lawn look messy.
Survivors include his beloved wife Deborah (Silvernail) Baird; loving and devoted father to Jennifer (Rickie), Teddy (Amanda) and Kevin (Leeann), He was the proud grandfather to Todd, Traci (Emma), Tylor, Tabitha (Tony), Travis, Nathanael, Raymond, Savanna, Alex, Nicholas and Alayna. He also leaves a great granddaughter, LaNiyah.
Ted is also survived by five brothers, Howard (Anita), Ernie (Gail), Clem (Margaret), Clinton (Amy) and Carl (Brenda). Also his three sisters, Dot (AJ-deceased), Ruby (Lou) and Mary (Keith) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was pre deceased by a brother Rupert.
A service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday November 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Route 22 in Copake, NY.
Private interment will be in the Hillsdale Rural Cemetery.
A reception and continued time of sharing will follow at the Mount Washington House, Route 23 in Hillsdale, NY.
At the request of the family and in lieu of flowers memorial may be forwarded to the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, PO Box D, Copake NY 12516 to assist the sponsorship of his grandsons in their continued involvement with 4H and cow showmanship.
