Pine Plains, NY - Stephen J. Terstenyak, 65, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie after a lengthy illness. br>
He was born on March 27, 1947 in Manhattan the son of Stephen and Steffina (Brezinak) Terstenyak. br>
Mr. Terstenyak was a Detective and worked for thirty three years for the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department. He was also a certified firearms instructor. br>
He was a Corporal with United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. br>
On August 23, 1968 in Pine Plains, NY he married Linda (Cahill) Terstenyak. She predeceased him on April 12, 2002. br>
Survivors include a daughter Erin Kowalewski and her husband John of New Baltimore, NY; a daughter, Tiffany Terstenyak of Pine Plains, NY; a grandson, Ethan Terstenyak of Pine Plains, NY; a sister, Steffina Sanbria; three nieces, Ranira, Rebecca, Nicolette and two nephews, Paul Terstenyak and Joseph Terstenyak. br>
He was predeceased by his brother Joseph John Terstenyak on November 20, 2008. br>
Mr. Terstenyak is a member of the Pine Plains American Legion Post 426. The Pine Plains Sportsman's Association, a member of the Marine Corps League and the National Rifleman's Association. br>
Calling hours are 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Peck & Peck Funeral Home 7749 South Main St. Pine Plains, NY. br>
Funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family. br>
