Pine Plains, NY – Shirley Remsburger, 86, a life-long resident of her beloved hometown Pine Plains, NY; passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 07, 2018 at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, NY.
She was born on January 14, 1932 in Pine Plains, NY, the daughter of William and Katherine (Ahearn) Fahey.
On June 5, 1955 at St. Anthony’s Church in Pine Plains, she married Louis John Remsburger. Shirley enjoyed working as a bank teller for Stissing National Bank in the early years of her marriage. She later worked as a tax collector and spent many devoted years working for the Town of Pine Plains as Secretary to the Assessors. She dedicated her love and her life, however, to where her heart always lay - with her family. She never missed a high school baseball game, hosted dozens of birthday parties and class picnics, and was a constant source of support and strength and a model of true faith for her children and grandchildren. Toward the end of her life, she was a much beloved resident at the Baptist Home.
Shirley loved her hometown and always appreciated the unique and natural beauty of our mountain and lakes and the friendly and welcoming neighbors and friends. In that regard, she was at the top of the list. She was fondly known to most as “Ziffy,” the name first given to her by her grandson Matthew.
