Shirley D. Coons

Shirley D. Coons, 92, of Ancram, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024 at Ghent Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on February 4, 1932 to the late Edward “Lyle”  and Jessie (Phillips) Decker. She was a loving mother and a devoted mother to her daughter Geri. Shirley enjoyed baking with a knack for making her own recipes. She also enjoyed knitting.

Shirley is survived by her loving daughter Geri Gervais, of Ancram, her two grandsons; Jered Gervais, of Texas and Jonathan Gervais, of Kingston, three great granddaughters Leah, Ava, & Sorina; her sister Renee Coons, in addition to several nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Gerald J. Coons and her siblings, Leatrice Yorchuck, Leon, Alan, Richard and Carl Decker.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 in Ancram Union Cemetery. There are no calling hours and a Celebration of Life is being planned for the coming weeks.
