Sharon (Ames) Simmons, 79 of Ancram NY, a former resident of Pine Plains, NY and Canton, NY was called home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2024 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital after a short illness.She was born on June 11, 1945 in Canton, NY daughter of Charles Ames and Katheryn Ames. Sharon dedicated her life to her family and faith. She was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Pine Plains where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher, Bible school leader, and youth group leader. She was later a member of the Northeast Baptist Church, in Millerton, NY and most recently the West Copake Reformed Church where she continued her service as a Sunday school teacher. Throughout her life, Sharon was deeply committed to her faith, she dedicated her time and talents to various ministries, sharing God’s love through her actions and words. She spent many years as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. She served as church secretary for both the United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church in Pine Plains, NY. Her faith was her foundation, and she lived each day with the hope and joy that comes from knowing Christ.

On September 5, 1964, in Canton, NY Sharon married Roswell Simmons who predeceased her.

She is survived by their 4 children: Laurie St. Germain of Canaan, CT, Alexander Simmons (Heidi) of Copake, NY, Christopher Simmons (Kelly) of Copake, NY and Jeffrey Simmons (Lisa) of LaGrange, NY, who will forever carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, she brought joy and warmth to the lives of her 16 grandchildren (Wesley, Leah, Monica, Shawn, Hannah, Jacob, Richard, Nicholas, Noah, Benjamin, Samantha, Miranda, Dylan, Rebecca, Ashley and Evan ) and 16 great-grandchildren, who will always remember her gentle spirit and loving embrace. She is also survived by her remaining siblings, Eleanor Cassoni of Carthage, NY, Janet Aldous of Colton, NY, Karel Mace of Canton, NY, Leo Ames of Canton, NY and Kathy Fountain of Canton, NY and many nieces and nephews.
