Ruth H. Layton

Stanfordville, NY - Ruth H. Layton, 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Mrs. Layton was born in the Town of Clinton, NY on April 19, 1921 the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Wilson) Horton.

She was a Teller for the Stissing National Bank in Stanford. A member of the Bangall United Methodist Church, member of the Stanford Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Pine Plains Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

On June 8, 1940 at the Bangall United Methodist Church she married the late William L. Layton. He predeceased her on May 26, 2004.

Survivors include two sons, Duffy Layton of Stanfordville, NY; James and his wife, Jane Layton of Florida; a daughter, Gail Brightly of South Carolina; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Layton was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Wilson and Alfred Horton.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, December 15, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home South Main St. Pine Plains, NY 12567.

Funeral services are 11 am on Thursday, December 16, at the Bangall United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Knutsen officiating.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to the Bangall United Methodist Church, Bangall, NY 12506.
