Russell C. Zens

Clinton Corners-Russell C. Zens, 76, loving husband of Joan "Patsy" and father of Daniel moved on to be with the Lord early on January 18, 2013 after fighting bladder cancer. Russ was a big man with an even bigger heart.

He was born on June 19, 1936 in Miami, FL, the son of the late Daniel and Helen (Geib) Zens. On October 19, 1957, he married Joan P. Calhoun at the Immaculate Conception Church in Bronx, NY.

Russ honored God by serving Him, our country, and our neighborhood and through everyday actions and involvement in many of the following jobs and organizations: Immaculate Conception Church in Bangall, NY, the Stanford Grange, the Stanfordville Fire Department, thirty seven years with the FDNY in the South Bronx, twenty years with the US Army Reserves, and the Northern Dutchess Rod and Gun Club. His service with these organizations was only surpassed by his love and dedication to his family.

He was well known as "Santa Claus", a role to which his spirit and personality have given life to for many years with his various organizations, and playing the role for friends and family as well. Russ epitomized the ultimate giving, love and service others. May God bless you Russ.

Mr. Zens is survived by his loving wife Joan "Patsy" Zens of Stanfordville, and his son Daniel Zens of Stanfordville.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Bangall, NY, with Fr. John Bida officiating.

A private interment will be held at a later date.
