Stanfordville - Rudolph A. Zitz, 75, of Stanfordville, NY passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 6, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 8, 1935 in Red Hook, NY he was the son of the late Peter and Pauline Zitz.

Mr. Zitz graduated from the Red Hook High School in 1953, and was a member of the Red Hook Alumni Association.

He honorably served his country as a Medic in the United States Army from 1958 until 1960.

Rudolph was a therapy aide for the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, NY for twenty five years, and owned and operated the Stissing Mountain Sawmill in Stanfordville, NY for thirty years.

On January 26, 1974 in Wingdale, New York, he married Joyce A. Brown. She survives him at home.

In addition to his loving wife Joyce, survivors include three stepchildren, Cynthia Kinney and her husband Everett of Maine, Clark Ferguson and his wife Evelyn of Pawling, NY, and Bruce Ferguson and his wife Charlene of Poughkeepsie, NY; a sister, Margaret Zathalia of Dallas, TX; three brothers, Frank Zitz of Florida, Leonard Zitz of Florida, and Peter Zitz of Rhinebeck, NY; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Zitz was predeceased by three sisters, Helen Battistoni, Pauline Lasher and Ethel Brooks.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the St. Mary's Cemetery, 64 Hunns Lake Rd., Bangall, NY. Rev. Chris Boyd will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Hospice Foundation Inc., 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
