Rosalind Sobel Lipstein

Rosalind Sobel Lipstein was born and raised in Brooklyn New York, by her parents, Klara and Isidore Sobel. She attended Brooklyn College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She also attended The New School for Social Research. Rosalind raised two children with her husband Benjamin, in Mt. Kisco New York.
Rosalind Lipstein was an active volunteer: She chaired fundraising drives for Cerebral Palsy and The American Red Cross and, served on the Curriculum Council for the Bedford Central School District and was Editor of the school district's newsletter, The Districteer. Later, she was the Executive Officer for the American Civil Liberties Union committee for academic freedom. When she moved to New York City she was a facilitator at the WMCA helpline "Call for Action".
Rosalind was also active in political campaigns on a local and national level. A career highlight was a luncheon invitation from Eleanor Roosevelt to her Val Kill home in Hyde Park.
After many wonderful years in Manhattan, The Lipsteins moved to Hillsdale New York in 1976. Rosalind was a passionate gardener, dog lover and supporter of many local initiatives that include The Columbia Memorial Hospital, The Roe Jan Community Library and the Roe Jan Community Park.
She is survied by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Benjamin Lipstein, their two children Owen J Lipstein, Dr. Paula Lipstein Forman, and her husband Philip, two grandchildren Jonathan and Isadora Forman and a sister Mae Sobel Katzman of San Diego.
