Roger F. Edelman, 83, of Copake passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on March 31, 2023. He was born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts on March 17, 1940 the son of Floyd and Thelma (Miller) Edelman.
Roger grew up on the family farm in Copake and began farming at 5 years old when he would haul hay in a wagon behind his tricycle. He loved farming, animals and was dedicated to being a dairy farmer. He also enjoyed working on farm machinery and fixing his tractors. In his younger days he also raced stock cars and was known to be a prankster.
Roger learned from his mother to always help anyone in need and to respect your fellow man. Over the years he always took care of his employee’s and their families. These were the values he lived by and will be remembered as a simple man.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Judith Edelman, his two nieces; Deanna Crabtree and Wendy Rybka. His nephew Josh McDermott, and his brother in law, Burton Poucher. Great niece, Jessica Sagendorph, great nephews, Steven & D.J. Rybka and a great great nephew, Cameron Pettingill.
In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his sister Fredrica Poucher and his niece Terri Gilligan.
A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will begin at 11:00AM on Thursday April 6, 2023 at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 8063 Rt. 22, Copake, NY. Where funeral service will begin at 1:00PM also on Thursday. Interment will follow in Copake Cemetery.
