Robin A. Bruce

March 28, 1950 — January 23, 2025

Copake Falls, NY

Robin Adair Bruce, formerly of Princeton MA, and a long-time Copake Falls resident and pillar of the community passed away peacefully at her residence on January 23, 2025, she was 74. Born on March 28, 1950, in Brooklyn NY to the late George C. And Helen (Adair) Bruce. She graduated from Greenwich Academy, Bradford Jr. College, and the University of New Hampshire. She completed her graduate studies at Fitchburg State University earning her Master of Science in Counseling. Robin dedicated herself to key roles and grant writing for various non-profit organizations throughout her career, work she deeply enjoyed. She was a lifelong reader who enjoyed reading British mystery novels. As well as watching British TV, HGTV, the Weather Channel and playing Scrabble on her iPad. A fan of the Beatles, she saw Paul McCartney at Fenway Park, in one of his last live shows achieving a lifelong wish. She was fiercely independent, always finding greater comfort in helping others rather than seeking help herself. Quick-witted and drawn to the lighter side of life, she had an extraordinary ability to form deep and meaningful connections. She had countless and wide-ranging best friends, from her UPS driver to her many neighbors, with whom she shared profound and enduring bonds that went far beyond ordinary friendship.

Robin was a champion of all things related to Copake Falls, with a family history spanning 3 generations and dating back to the 1920’s. Robin retired by the time she moved to Copake Falls; however, she never lived the retired life there. She volunteered countless hours of her free time to serve as a guide and unofficial ambassador for the Park, the Iron Works and would steer visitors towards local businesses, always trying to give them a boost. She was the founder of Copake Falls Day, Winter Walk and the First Day Hike at the Park, in addition to many other activities. Her passion for the community was remarkable and she found enjoyment in creating events designed to show how a tiny community can make a huge difference. She lived each day brightening the lives of everyone else around her.

Robin is survived by her three loving children, daughters Catherine Carey and her husband Chris; Lindsay Carlson and her partner, Mark Langevin; son Benjamin Allard and former daughter-in-law Joan. Her three adored grandsons, Charlie Carlson, Spencer & Sam Allard. Her nephew Alexander LeBrun and brother-in-law, Peter LeBrun.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Amy Bruce and Anne LeBrun.

A celebration of Robin’s life will be held at a later date and will be announced. The family is grateful for the caring staff of Fairview Hospital Emergency Room & Phelps Cancer Center.
