Robert E. Rice Jr.

Robert E. Rice Jr., 53, of Ghent, passed away suddenly at home on November 5, 2023. He was born on June 12, 1970 in Rhinebeck, the son of the late Robert E. Rice Sr. and Diane Krych. On August 16, 1997 he married Chelsea Seaman, who survives him at home. Robert owned and operated R&C General Contracting. He was a skilled carpenter who was also a perfectionist who could build anything. He was a man who made the most of each day and was sure to enjoy life. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan as well as the L.A. Lakers. Rob enjoyed ice fishing and his yearly fishing trips to Lake Ontario in August.

Robert enjoyed traveling, cruises and camping. Any place that had the ocean, the sun and his family & friends made him happy. At home he enjoyed cooking, especially grilling and smoking meats. He loved a good cocktail and cigar around the fire and spending countless hours enjoying the backyard that he built for his family. Christmas time was his favorite time of the year. He would play Christmas music and put up enough lights that all the neighbors could see and enjoy.

Robert is survived by life loving wife, Chelsea Rice, his two devoted children, Brandon Rice, Alyssa Conn and her husband Anthony. He was Papa to his granddaughter Aubrey and was excited to be papa yet again. He is also survived by his mother Diane Krych, his brother Justin Rice and sister Tracey Rice. Also by his beloved pets; Lilo, Brutus, Mowgli and his twenty year old cat Spunky.

A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 2:00 to 5:00pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 8063 Route 22, Copake, New York. Interment will take place privately.
