Robert T. Dunn, 61 of Hillsdale, NY and formerly of Totowa, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 26, 2016 in his home. Born on March 10, 1955 in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of Thomas and Eunice (Roberts) Dunn.
A local resident since 2002, he owned and operated The Honored Guest Bed and Breakfast along with his wife in Hillsdale. Bob, also known as 'Guitar Bob', was also an accomplished self-employed singer-guitarist who performed throughout the northeast. He was known for his versatility and vast repertoire of over 500 songs, ranging from classic rock, pop, standards, country and celtic. He started his musical career with one of NJ's finest bands-"The Echo Chamber," making his debut on 2/14/70 at the tender age of 15. From 1970-1975 he played for such legendary bands as the "Ultimate Experience," "The Skylights" and "Midnight Rider." After a 20 year break, he began working as a solo performer, playing coffee houses, parties, clubs, etc and recorded his first CD, "An American Songbook" in 1999, and a second CD, "Double Vision" in 2013. He has appeared numerous times on "Keeping Country Strong," the longest running Cable Access show in NY.
An avid reader and sports fan, he was well versed in anything about classic movies, music memorabilia, sports, military history, detective stories and, of course, the Boston Red Sox.
On October 10, 1992, he married Lauren Coyle Dunn, who survives him in Hillsdale. He is also survived by his son, David Dunn; stepchildren, John Coyle, Patrick Coyle, and Deirdre Coyle, and, 6 granddaughters, Stella Coyle, Hayden Coyle, Reanna Coyle, Lia Coyle, Sadie Clouser and Jasmine Clouser.
A Celebration of Life/Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 1:30 - 4:30 PM at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Rd., Morristown, NJ 07960.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
