COPAKE - Richard A. Scaringi, 73, of Copake, N.Y.; formerly of Amenia, N.Y. and the Bronx, died on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT.
Born January 22, 1938, in the Bronx, he is the son of the late Betty (nee Eack) Gross and the late Peter Scaringi.
He attended P.S. 72 and Samuel Gompers Career and Technical Education High School, both in the Bronx. Richard was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961 where he served as a driver before being honorably discharged in 1963. He worked at Con Edison, retiring in 1997 after 42 years of service. After retiring, he delivered parts for Napa in Amenia.
On August 21, 1976, he married the late Clair (nee Connelly) Scaringi, in Pelham, N.Y.
In addition to his son, Rich, and his wife, Kristin Charles-Scaringi, of Rosendale N.Y., he is survived by sister, Gloria and her husband, Thomas Furlong of Brookfield, CT; nephew, Tom and his wife Leanne Furlong of Torrington, CT; niece, Lisa Parille and family of Danbury, CT; companion, Sheila Duncan of Copake, NY; as well as many close friends.
Additional family includes stepfather, the late Frank Gross; stepsister, the late Lorraine Gross; and stepbrother, Robert Gross.
Calling hours are Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Rt. 22, Copake, NY. Rev. Mark Frickey of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Ancram, NY will officiate.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the New St. Bridget's Cemetery in Copake Falls, NY.
