Rhinebeck - Richard John Reeve, Sr. passed away October 27th at Northern Dutchess Hospital after a long illness.
Born on August 31st, 1938 in Patterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Sydney H. Reeve and Agnes Hafner Reeve. He attended St. Luke's High School in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, Seton Hall University and SUNY at New Paltz.
He served in the US Air Force for four years; following his service he taught for thirty-five years, including 29 years at Stissing Mt. Jr/Sr High School.
Dick was active in many community organizations, including as the first President of the Dutchess County United Teachers Council, president of the Pine Plains Federation of Teachers; and he helped form the Pine Plains Chapter of Retired Union Employees. He was a founding officer and board member of Tri State Center for the Arts, and also served as President.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lorraine; two sons, Richard and his wife Maya; John and his wife Kathleen, and their daughter Lyndsey; a daughter Jennifer, her husband Frank, and their daughter Lila.
