Richard Byron McPhee, 76, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York.
Born in New Rochelle, New York, on November 29, 1934, he was the son of the late Harold and Laura McPhee.
Mr. McPhee graduated with a B.A. from Oberlin College and moved to Hillsdale in 1981. He was the author of two books for young readers: Rounds with a Country Vet and Tom and Bear. He previously served on the Board of Directors of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, the Hillsdale Library Board, and he was a member of the Board of Directors of Dollars for Scholars. Most recently, he was a volunteer at VIM (Volunteers in Medicine), in Great Barrington, MA.
He was predeceased by a brother, Donald McPhee.
Mr. McPhee leaves behind many close friends.
