Richard B. Coleman, Jr., 67, of Millerton, NY passed away at home on November 27, 2024. Richard was born on March 13, 1957 in Panama, the son of Richard B. Coleman, Sr. and Carole Anne (Metz) Coleman. Richard graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1975 and attended Westchester Community College. He was a lover of all music, particularly the Beatles and classic rock music. Gifted with a photographic or eidetic memory, he would often amaze family, friends and complete strangers with his ability to recall dates and times when you had last seen him to talk to even from decades earlier.
He traveled on many occasions to Laconia, NH for the annual motorcycle gathering and to Daytona, FL. He often dreamed of visiting California and its beaches made famous by the Beach Boys, but sadly never made the trip. Through his persistence and often late arrivals to the Millerton Post Office at 4:59 p.m., the post office lobby is now open 24 hours a day. Efforts are underway to rename it the “Richard B. Coleman Memorial Lobby.”
He was predeceased by his parents, his grandparents, Herman and Elizabeth Metz, Florence and Harold Coleman, his uncle Daniel Thomas, aunt and uncle Elizabeth (Corsi) Hickey and Riccardo Corsi and cousin June Corsi Brown.
He is survived by an aunt, Patricia Thomas of West Copake and cousins Riccardo (Ric) Corsi of Montrose, NY, Hilarie Thomas of West Copake, NY, Christopher Thomas of Great Barrington, MA and Gregory (Candi) Thomas of Maryville, TN.
There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the West Copake Cemetery.
