Pine Plains - Regina V. Moriarty Castelli, 79, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Vassar Medical Center.
Born July 22, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of James V. and Elizabeth (Hirsch) Moriarty.
Regina was a longtime Pine Plains resident and well-known local restaurateur. She began her career in Pine Plains as a partner of The Stissing House and as owner of Richie's Place in Elizaville, before building and operating the Mountain View Restaurant. After retiring from the restaurant, she returned to school to become an LPN and was a private duty nurse for many years. Regina also continued working as a hostess at the Stage Stop in Bangall.
She was very involved in the Pine Plains community and was a member of St. Anthony's Church.
Regina is survived by her four children, Michael Castelli, and his wife Vivienne of Hurley, Patrick Castelli of Hurley, Kelly DuBois, and her husband Arthur of Red Hook, and Elizabeth Siegel, and her husband Kurt of Marlboro. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren; Andra Reyes, Lauren, Yvonne, and Madlyn Castelli ; Erin and Sean Castelli, Joshua and Krista DuBois; Eric, Ian, and William Seigel and her recently born great granddaughter, whom she met just prior to her passing, Scarlett Grace Reyes ; a sister Joan M. Moriarty of Pine Plains; her brother and sister-in-law James J. and Laura Moriarty of Poughkeepsie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her former husband, Richard Castelli.
Calling hours are Sunday, 3 to 6 PM, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, Inc. , S. Main St., Pine Plains.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 11 AM, a St. Anthony's Church, Pine Plains.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
