Ralph H. Shadic

Copake, NY - Ralph H. "Tote" Shadic, 82, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA.

He was born on August 17, 1931 in Hudson, NY the son of the late Homer and Hilda (Shattuck) Shadic.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army Signal Corp on classified assignment at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines during the Korean War.

Mr. Shadic worked in construction with his father and brother as Homer Shadic and Sons, later known as Shadic Builders.

He was a lifelong member and Past Captain of the Copake Fire Company. Past Captain of the Community Rescue Squad. A member of the Hillsdale Cadby- Shutts VFW Post #7552, a member of the Roe Jan Young at Heart Organization. A member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, and past Building Inspector for the Town of Copake.

Survivors include his wife, Joan (Salvo) Shadic of Copake, NY; a son, Paul Shadic and his wife Debra of South Glastonbury, CT; two daughters, Christine Shadic of Boston, MA; Brenda Shadic Olsen and her husband Kirk of Hillsdale, NY; a brother Donald Shadic of Copake, NY; and two granddaughters, Lisa and Michele.

He was predeceased by a sister, Isabelle Flynn.

Calling hours are 10 to 1:30 pm on Thursday, June 19th, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 8074 State 22 in Copake Falls, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm, on Thursday, June 19th, from Our Lady of Hope Parish, 8074 State Route 22 in Copake Falls, NY. The Rev. George Brennan, will officiate.

Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery.
