Ralph William Burlarley

Ralph William Burlarley, 97 of Hillsdale, NY died peacefully on Sunday November 17, 2013 in Albany, NY.

He was born on February 21, 1916 in Margaretville, NY son of Joseph and Violet (Shultis) Burlarley.

Ralph graduated high school in 1934 and spent a year in the Adirondacks working in a logging camp and at a huge mill in Conifer, NY. He then spent another year with the Civilian Conservation Corp. and also in Ulster County working on the New York City Aqueduct. He was also a truck driver for many years delivering produce from the Catskill Mountains to eastern seaboard cities.

He became employed by G.L.F. in 1942 and became manager of several egg stations. In 1954 he was transferred to Service Stores Feed Division where he became assistant manager of the Ithaca store and then manager of the Palmyra Service Store.

In 1957 Ralph purchased the Hillsdale Farm Store with William Clark and operated it until 1987. He later delivered the Independent Newspaper from 1991 - 1996.

Ralph was a sports fanatic, especially a fan of the New York Yankees. He was very fond of trout fishing and enjoyed gardening.

He was a member and past master of the Hillsdale Lodge # 612 Free and Accepted Masons, past district deputy of the Columbia Masonic district and had served as both a councilman and justice for the Town of Hillsdale.

He pre pre - deceased by his beloved wife, Doris on January 11, 2013.

Survivors include his grandchildren, Joseph Ralph Burlarley of Hillsdale, Kim Carr of Bethesda, MD, Gina Gorrow of Beverly Hills, FL, Angie Loveland of Del Rio, TN and Tony Burlarley of Albany, NY. He also leaves 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 21, 2013 at 10 AM from the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Route 22 in Copake NY with Deacon Jacqueline Jefferson officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service.

Interment will be in the North Hillsdale Cemetery.
