Amenia - Patrick J. Lawrence, 64, passed away on December 24, 2012 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT.

He was born on January 20, 1948 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of Lois (VanKuren) Lawrence and the late Charles Lawrence.

Pat lived most of his life in the Smithfield Valley. Growing up, he was a member of the Future Farmers of America and the 4-H Club.

On May 4, 1968, he married Bernice M. Fitzpatrick at the Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, NY. Mrs. Lawrence survives at home.

Pat was a farm manager who worked at Smithfield Farms for 48 years. He was a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension in Millbrook and a Board Member for the Smithfield Cemetery.

He was an avid hunter and bowled for many years for the Wallbridge Farm Team of Millbrook.

In addition to his loving wife of 44 years, Bernice, he is survived by three children, Patrick Lawrence and his wife Kelly of Portland, OR; Lisa Lawrence and her companion Jamie Susczynski of Stanfordville, NY; and James Lawrence and his companion Jennifer DeForest of Wappingers Falls, NY; two grandchildren, Jenna and Justin Lawrence of Wappingers Falls, NY; and his mother, Lois Lawrence of Amenia, NY. Also surviving are a sister, Carol Stanton and her husband William of Cobleskill, NY; a brother, Charles Lawrence of Millbrook, NY; a brother, Peter Lawrence and his companion Patricia Power of Hudson, NY; a sister, Nancy DeWitt and her husband Lee of Hyde Park, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Lawrence, in 1988.

Calling hours are from 4 to 7 PM on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Smithfield Presbyterian, 656 Smithfield Valley Rd., Amenia, NY 12501, with Rev. Douglas Grandgeorge officiating. Interment will follow in the Smithfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Amenia Fire Department at 36 Mechanic Street, Amenia, NY 12501.
