Olive D. Shook, 92, of Stanfordville passed away on August 26, 2021 at Renaissance Nursing Care Center in Hyde Park. She was born in Ancramdale on December 30, 1928, one of sixteen children to Ernest and Anna (Lown) Dietter. On December 19, 1948 she married Virgil Shook Jr. in Pine Plains NY. Olive was a homemaker and a devoted mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her time to Stanford Fire Company Lady Auxiliary and the Stanford Forever Young Club. She enjoyed bingo, square dancing, crafts and had completed hundreds of puzzle books in her lifetime.
Olive is survived by three daughters and their spouses; Anna and Charles Wheeler, of Pine Plains, Susan and Ed Artuz, of Poughkeepsie and Gail and David Dinsmore of Harpersfield. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her two brothers, Avery “Prope” Dietter, of Ancramdale and Elwood Dietter, of Millerton.
Graveside services will take place Monday August 30, 2021 at 11:30am at Stanford Cemetery.
