Hyde Park - Noreen H. Reilly, 67, of Hyde Park, died Sunday April 17, 2011 in Savannah, Georgia, where she was living with a daughter. Born in Rhinebeck, New York on March 22, 1944, she was the daughter of Mabel Heywood and Roger Doyle of Rhinebeck. She graduated Rhinebeck Central School in 1962. Noreen graduated from Dutchess Community College and was Miss Dutchess Community College in 1963.
Noreen was employed with IBM before starting her family in 1965. She later worked for many years at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Medical Records, and was the office manager for Dr. Beirstock in Rhinebeck. She was the Secretary / Treasurer of the Hillside Fire District for several years. She was most recently employed by NYS Senator Stephen Saland as District Coordinator until her retirement in 2009. Noreen served 6 terms with the Dutchess County Legislature in District 35, from 1995-2007 and was the Majority Leader from 2000-2007. She was very active in the community of Hyde Park once moving there from Rhinebeck in 1988. She served on the Board of the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce from 1988-1998 and was President of the Hyde Park Chamber from 1996-1997. Noreen was a member of several Hyde Park committees including; the Crossroads Committee, Corridor Committee, Economic Development Committee, The Bellefield Group and D.C. Cornell Cooperative Extension. In Rhinebeck she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of the Good Shepherd Church and a member of the Northern Dutchess Mother's Club and the PTSO.
The family remembers their Farm in Rhinebeck that Mom attended to. Noreen was known for her fabulous smile, and personality. Mom's baking and Sunday dinners with her family will always be remembered. Mom's other interests included; poetry, writing, painting, and scuba diving.
Mom had great artistic abilities and loved to paint and draw. With all her achievements in life, she considered the greatest one to be that of a mother and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed every minute she spent with them.
Noreen was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2009; she never gave up and looked forward to everyday, with joy. Noreen moved to Savannah, GA in 2010, staying with a daughter Kristina and her husband.
Noreen is survived by her four children: Darren Forbes his wife Linda; Heather Forbes-Berryann; Ian Forbes; and Kristina Popovich-Triana and her husband Greg; Six grandchildren; Kaitlin, Billy, Siobhan, Erin, Thomas and John; two sisters, Martha Steed, and Deborah MacConel; A brother Wayne VanSteenburgh; Several nieces and nephews and two former husbands; John Forbes and Joseph Popovich. She was pre-deceased by her parents; and husband 3rd James Reilly.
Calling hours will be on Thursday April 28, 2011 from 5-8 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 371 Wurtemberg Road, Rhinebeck, New York. Funeral Services will be at St. Paul's on Friday April 29, 2011 at 11:00 am; Pastor Mark D. Isaacs will officiate, with internment immediately following the service.
