Michael F. Sturdivant, 75, of Ancramdale, passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2024. He was born on August 11, 1949 in Millbrook, New York and was the son of the late Leonard and Sara (DeGroat) Sturdivant. Michael served from 1967 to 1970 in the United States Army in Korea. After his service he earned his Bachelors degree from SUNY New Paltz. He worked for Taconic DDSO in Kingston as a placement coordinator until his retirement.
Michael was an avid cook who enjoyed barbecuing the most. He was always excited to try a new seasoning or recipe to make the perfect meal. Sharing his talents with his family by hosting cookouts to bring everyone together. His passion for barbecue didn’t stop there, he would travel the north east judging different barbecue competitions. A quiet man who also had a deep appreciation for jazz music and enjoyed going to jazz concerts.
Michael is survived by his siblings, Maxine Garriques, Mildred Sturdivant and Terry Sturdivant. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his eight siblings, Leonard DeGroat Sturdivant, Joan M. Parker, Arthur C. Sturdivant, Jeannette Fuller, Linda Sturdivant, Timothy O. Sturdivant, Rose M. Sturdivant, & Alan Sturdivant.
Private family services will be held at their convenience.
