Mary Lou (Murray) Jensen

Mary Lou Jensen, RN

We are sad to announce the passing of Mary Lou Jensen of Copake, New York. Mary Lou was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, nurse, and friend. She left this world suddenly on June 2, 2023, at the age of 83.

She was born to James Lewis Murray and Lois Irene Howie on September 08, 1939 in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.

After graduating high school, she attended the Women’s College of Nursing in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Mary Lou chased her dreams to become a Nurse and served the Sharon Hospital patients for 52 years, serving in the ICU and PACU for most of her career. Over her career she was recognized with many awards and accolades from patients and co-workers, as her first concern was always her patient’s safety.

She met her husband Peter A. Jensen in 1959 and married the love of her life in 1961, together they had three boys, Christian, David, and Kurt.

Mary Lou loved spending time in the garden attending to her flowers and making her needlepoint pillows. She was also an avid baker just like her mother, providing many friends and family with cakes and pastries for events and birthdays.

Mary Lou is survived by her Husband and Sons, plus many nieces and nephews, and her granddaughters and grandson, plus two great-grandsons. She is predeceased by her Parents and Sister.

Friends and Family are invited to an end-of-life celebration on Saturday, July 1st , 2023, from 1pm-4pm at the Hillsdale Fire House.

Interment will be at the Noon hour on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the Copake Methodist Church in Copake with a luncheon served immediately afterwards at the Jensen residence.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Lou’s memory to the Columbia Greene Humane Society and the American Cancer Society.
