Pine Plains, NY - Mary Isabel "Pat" Blakney, 89, passed into the hands of GOD on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at her longtime home.
Born on February 12, 1925 in Kingston, NY, the daughter of the late James R. and Margaret E. (Long) Howard.
She was cared for over the last many months by Hospice and day/night devotion of her loving children and daughter-in-law.
After graduation from Kingston High School, she worked for the local Phone Company for several years. In 1949, she met and married Elbert S. Blakney and moved to Pine Plains and raised six children. He predeceased her on November 3, 1972. Isabel then while mothering her growing family, ran for and was Elected Pine Plains Town Clerk. The Office of Town Clerk was held from 1972 until her retirement in 1988.
Isabel was a lifelong active member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church along with its many societies.
Survivors include two sons, Richard and his wife Cheryl Blakney; James and his wife Kelly Blakney; three daughters, Patricia Blakney; Karen and her husband Gary Funk; and Jeanne Lutz; seven grandchildren, Jason, Janel, Kelly, Sean, Casey, Ian and Justin.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Shelly and two brothers, James E. and William J. Howard.
Calling hours are 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main St. Pine Plains.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, September 29 at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Pine Plains, NY with Fr. William White, officiating.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.
