Marjorie "Ellie" N. Haire

Pine Plains, NY - Marjorie "Ellie" N. Haire, 91, a longtime resident of Pine Plains, NY, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at The Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, NY.

She was born on October 23, 1924 in Ancram, NY the daughter of Perry and Hazel (Burch) Lown.

In her early years, Ellie worked as a switch board operator for Vassar Brother's Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY.

On, June 19, 1945 she married the late Herman A. Haire Sr. in Columbia, South Carolina.

Her survivors include her two sons and their spouses, Herman and Tuddie Haire of Ellenton, FL; James and Jane Haire of Pine Plains, NY; three daughters and their spouses, JoAnn and Bobby Lamont of Pine Plains, NY; Sue Ellen and Dave Doherty of Alpine, CA; Dorothy Simmons of Port Charlotte, FL; twenty two grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Carlisle "Buzzy" Lown.

She was predeceased by her husband, and a son, Harold E. Haire, and a daughter, Linda J. Churton; her siblings, Paul Lown and sister, Dorothy Marone.

Ellie enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and bingo. Her time spent with her family brought her greatest joy and fulfillment. She was particularly proud of her sons who followed in their father's footsteps and served in the military, and law enforcement.

"Gram" Seventy three people and two on the way,

that's how many hearts were broken on that very day.

Two went before her so she wouldn't be alone,

while grandpa got things ready for her peaceful journey home.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family in the Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains, NY.
