Stanfordville - Margaret Josephine Doyle completed her ninety-five year sojourn on this earth when she passed away peacefully at her home on August 19, 2010 while in the care of her family. Margaret was born in Woodhaven, New York in 1915, the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian (Carlson) Doyle. In 1940 she married Edward A. Doyle. He predeceased her in 1975.
She is survived by her son Edward Doyle of Stanfordville; her son William Doyle and his wife Mary of Rhinebeck; her daughter Barbara Hoxsie and her husband Ed of Clinton Corners; her son Lawrence Doyle of Stanfordville; and her son Gregory Doyle and his wife Nina of Rhinebeck. "Peg." As she loved to be known, is also survived by six grandsons, Liam, Edward, Zachary, Nicholas, Gregory and Richard, and one granddaughter, Johanna.
She worked for the FBI in Washington, DC through WW II before leaving the agency to move to Long Island, New York in 1950. The family moved to Stanfordville in 1965 and she began working at Whalen's Insurance Agency in Millbrook in 1966. She retired from there in 1997.
She was active in the Lady's Auxiliary of the Stanford Fire Company, and was a founding member of the ARC REC Club and supporter of the Special Olympics.
The love she showed in her life-long commitment to special needs individuals, including her own son, who lived with her his entire life, was an inspiration to a wide network of friends and acquaintances. Peg's was a well lived life that leaves many fond memories behind.
Calling hours are from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home South Main St. Pine Plains, NY.
Private services will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010. Interment will be at the Stanford Cemetery, Stanfordville, New York.
