Lucille Evelyn Halpern

Lucille Evelyn Halpern, 90, of Hillsdale, NY passed away on Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, MA.

She was born on January 17, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Francis and Isabell (Boggs) Walters. Lucille was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, John Halpern on January 6, 2004, and her sister, Elizabeth Mood in 1988.

She is survived by her daughters, Lucille Brock Gregory of Hillsdale and Ellen Anne Halpern of Winter Park, FL; her son-in-law Russ Gregory; her nieces Terry, Kathy & Nancy Mood and her grandniece Dawn & her husband, Dane Ables, all of Colorado. Also surviving are many cousins who she loved dearly.

Lucille was very active in the Girl Scout organization in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and she joyfully served as a Pixie, Brownie & Girl Scout Troop Leader for over 30 years. For ten years she worked at a local AT&T Office in her Bay Ridge neighborhood.

She also loved the fact that she and Betty White were birthday twins - born on the same month, day and year! Interment services will be held on Friday October 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.at Calverton National Cemetery, Islip, NY.
