Leonard O. Fournier, 94, a long time resident of Copake, New York passed away on April 6, 2024 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. He was born on September 11, 1929 in Newport, Vermont. The son of the late Arcade and Alexandrine (Jacques) Fournier.
Leonard proudly served his country in the Korean War. Upon his discharge he moved his family to New York. He worked for 25 plus years at the Roe Jan / Taconic Hills School district until his retirement. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do, he was a hard worker but always took hime to enjoy his Farmall H and tractor pulling events. His biggest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Leonard is survived by his daughter, Anita (Kelly) Kosnik - Fournier, his sons, Rene (Karen), Donald (Gail), and Ronald (Barb) Fournier. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Abigail Farrara, Danny Fournier, Ashley Kristjansson, and Michael Fournier. Seven great grandchildren, two sister, two brothers, and devoted friends Loretta McQuillen and Tommy Bryant. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Girouard) Fournier, son George Fournier, four brothers and one sister.
A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will be on Friday evening, April 12th from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 8063 Route 22, Copake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am from Our Lady of Hope Parish, Route 22, Copake Falls. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in New St. Bridget's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Leonard’s memory may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia and Greene Counties, 47 Liberty St., Catskill, NY 12414.
