Karen Norelius

November 29, 1945 — January 16, 2024

Poughkeepsie, NY

Karen Norelius, 78 years old, eldest of four children died peacefully at home on January 16, 2024.  She was born to Aurora and Clayton Baldwin in San Bernardino, California.  Karen graduated from Sewanhaka High School and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She met the love of her life, Theodore thanks to a mutual friend, Larry. On January 9, 1966 they were married and went on to have three children.

They moved to Ronkonkoma and made many lifelong friends. She was active in the local United Methodist Church as a choir member and became the director of the nursery school.  Karen was also involved with Walk to Emmaus. She loved her time working as part of the Newsday Investigation Team and later became active in the Pleasant Valley and Bangall Methodist Churches, in her new role as the Pastor's wife.

Karen had a love for music,  puzzles, traveling with her husband and making memories with her 6 grandchildren at the Interlake Campground.

She leaves behind her loving husband Theodore Norelius Jr., her three children, Christine(Kevin) Corrigan, Theodore III(Sharon) Norelius, Robert(Ginny) Norelius and six grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Clayton(Marylou) Baldwin.

In addition to her parents, Karen was predeceased by a sister Carmen and a brother, Henry.

A time to share memories and offer condolences will be held on February 3, 2024 from 1:00-4:00 at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains. The afternoon will conclude with a time for reflections. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hudson Valley Hospice in Karen’s memory.
