Judith D. Parliman, passed away peacefully June 19, 2021 at the Baptist Home at Brookmeade in Rhinebeck, with her loving husband by her side.
Judy was born June 18, 1938 in Schenectady, New York to the late Christian Dufel and Mildred Dufel Hotaling. She attended Russell Sage College and graduated in 1959 from Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in Schenectady. On September 23, 1961 she married Ronald G. Parliman at the Centre Glenville Methodist Church in Scotia.
After their marriage, Judy was employed as a Registered Nurse in several hospitals, colleges, and as a Neurosurgical assistant. She retired from Northern Dutchess Hospital in 1984. Following that Judy was employed at the Pine Plains Veterinarian Hospital for nine years. She loved cooking, gardening, camping and reading. She and Ron traveled extensively in their “little” camper.
Judy also volunteered for seven years at the Baptist Home and Rhinebeck and for 17 years she co-managed the Brown Bag Boutique (a thrift shop) in Pine Plains. For many years Judy was the church historian for the Pine Plains United Methodist Church she was a member of the United Methodist Church since childhood.
Judith is survived by her loving husband Ronald G. Parliman, her son Brian Parliman and his wife Marie Parliman, her daughter, Heather Oliver and her husband Didier Oliver. Two grandchildren, Jason and Lauranne Oliver, two nieces and a nephew, five great nieces and nephews all of Georgia. Judy was predeceased by her parents and her brother Frederick Dufel.
A memorial service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at First United Presbyterian Church of Pine Plains, 3039 Church Street, Pine Plains.
Memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude’s children’s hospital or to the First United Presbyterian Church in Pine Plains.
