Ancramdale - John C. Printon died at home on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 of Alzheimer's Disease. He was born on August 15, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts to John H. Printon and Gertrude Flynn. He was raised in Rutherford, New Jersey, attended St. Mary's High School and graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York. He served as a pilot in the US Navy at the end of World War II. He has lived in New Jersey, New York City and for the past ten years in Ancramdale, New York.
He began his career on Wall Street as a bond trader with RW Pressprich & Co and became the Executive Vice President of that firm. He helped to found Printon, Kane and Company, a bond trading firm in the 1970's and also traded bonds for Bear Stearns in the 1980's and again for RW Pressprich in the 1990's. He was known not only for his superior trading and investment skills, but also for the ethical standards to which he held himself and those who worked for him. He served on the Board of Governors of the NASD and was Chairman of its NY District.
He was a generous mentor, not only in the investment business, but personally as well. He served on the board of and as a tutor to children with Project Reach Youth in Brooklyn, New York.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ann Daly Printon, his three daughters, Stacie Printon of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Melissa Printon of Hopewell, New Jersey, and Gillian Printon of Corte Madera, California, and three grandchildren, Ben, Eliza and Daniel, as well as a sister, Mary Farley of Northridge, California.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Ancramdale Presbyterian Church, 15 County Rt 8, Ancramdale, NY 12503. The Rev. Carol Miller will officiate.
