John N. Morrissey

Pine Plains - John N. Morrissey, 69, a longtime resident of Pine Plains, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.

He was born August 1, 1943 in Bronx, NY, the son of John N. Morrissey Sr. and Gertrude (Lynch) Morrissey.

Mr. Morrissey honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 until 1966.

On August 13, 1966 in Pelham, NY, he married Kathleen O'Gorman. She survives him at home.

John was the owner and operator of Morrissey Trucking based out of Pine Plains, NY, and was formerly a member of the New Rochelle Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his loving wife Kathleen, he is survived by his children, Kathleen G. "Bunny" Morrissey of Pine Plains, NY; and John N. Morrissey III and his wife Grace of Millerton, NY; two grandsons, Sean and Ryan Morrissey of Millerton, NY; two sisters, Kate Morrissey of New Rochelle, NY; and Bernadette Mauro and her husband Tony of Mamaroneck, NY; and a sister-in-law, Noel Morrissey of East Hampton, NY and Ireland. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Captain Joseph Morrissey.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Friday, January 18, 2013, and on Saturday from 10 to 11 AM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains, NY 12567.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 PM at St. Mary's Church, 76 Sharon Rd., Lakeville, CT, with Fr. Joseph Kurnath officiating.

Interment will private and at the convenience of the family.
