Stanfordville - John Tor Johnsen, 76, a longtime resident of Stanfordville, NY, passed away at home on Friday, April 20, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Johnsen also resided in Wilmington, NC and Bolton Landing, NY.
He was born on December 22, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Jorgen and Tonette (Reinertsen) Johnsen. He spent his childhood in Farsund, Norway.
On October 18, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY, he married Ann Marie Bode. Mrs. Johnsen survives at home. John was the owner of Stanfordville Machine, which he founded in 1975. He also honorably served in the National Guard.
In addition to his wife Ann Marie, he is survived by a son, Peter Johnsen and his wife Patricia of Red Hook, NY; a son, Neal Johnsen of Stanfordville, NY; a daughter, Ellen Michael and her husband Matthew of Stanfordville; and a daughter, Betta Rosse and her husband Dirk-Jan of Millbrook, NY; eight grandchildren, Alec, Devin and Perri Johnsen, Jared Colow, Clayton and Ava Michael, and Jan and Karolina Rosse; a sister, Anne Sandrib and her husband Norman of Osprey, FL; as well as three nieces and three nephews.
Memorial calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains, NY 12567. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the United Church of Christ, Route 82, Stanfordville, NY. Rev. Rhoda Starzyk will officiate. A private interment will follow in the Stanford Cemetery.
