John J. D'Hont

John J. D'hont, 97 of Hillsdale, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday February 13, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on September 23, 1918 in Yonkers, NY the son of Julius and Mable (Brown) D'hont.

A local resident since 1946, Mr. D'hont served his country with the United States Army during World War II attaining the rank of corporal.

He previously was employed by the Otis Elevator Company in Yonkers and upon moving to Hillsdale became employed by Thomas A. Edison Industries in Stuyvesant Falls, NY from 1948 - 1970. Later he worked for the Home Gas Corp in Housatonic, MA.

John was a faithful communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Gt. Barrington, MA.

Survivors include his daughters, Margaret Schmid and husband Peter of Craryville, NY and Kathryn Bock of Hillsdale. He also leaves three grandchildren, Jennifer Bock and Heidi Bock both of Hillsdale and C. Matthew Tuller of Cohoes, NY along with nieces and nephews.

He was pre deceased by his wife Janet (Ineson) D'hont in 2010 along with two daughters, Barbara Haskins and Janet Tuller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday February 18, 2016 at 10 AM from St. Peter's R.C. Church in Gt. Barrington, MA with the Rev. William Murphy officiating.

Calling hours will be private.

Interment will be in Old St. Bridget's Cemetery, Copake Falls, NY.
