John P. Alterio

Pleasant Valley, NY - John P. Alterio, 71, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Westchester Medical Center with his loving wife and soul partner, Kimberlee, and his children, Francine, John and Melissa at his side.

He was born on December 17, 1938 in Peekskill, NY the son of the late John Joseph and Angela Marie (Mincio) Alterio.

John retired from New York City Transit Authority and Wackenhut Nuclear Security at Indian Point.

He was associated with the East Fishkill Boy Scouts progressing from Cub Master to Assistant Scout Master to NIMHAM Program Director. He also managed all ages of East Fishkill Little League from 1975 to 1985. John was an avid golfer and loved the outdoors including hiking, hunting and camping.

He served with the United States Navy from 1957 - 1961.

On October 22, 2002 in Las Vegas he married Kimberlee A. (Horton) Alterio. She survives him at home.

In addition to his wife Kimberlee of Pleasant Valley, NY; survivors include his children, Francine Colvett and her husband Wayne of Hampton, NY; John P. Alterio Jr. of Hopewell Junction, NY; Melissa Alterio of Montgomery, NY step son, Devon Morse and his wife Mary of Kissimmee, FL; six grandchildren, Michael Colvett, Eren Colvett, Sarah Alterio, John Alterio, Kelsea Keene, and Madison Morse. one great grandchild, Jordan Carter Colvett. a sister, Angie Alterio of Peekskill, NY; several cousins and his favorite aunt, Mary Santulli of Peekskill, NY.

Calling hours are 4 to 7 pm on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home South Main St. Pine Plains, NY.

Funeral service will be 11 am on Saturday, January 30, at the Bangall United Methodist Church Bangall, NY with Rev. Steve Knutsen officiating.

Interment will follow in the Stanford Cemetery in Stanfordville, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are request to the Bangall United Methodist Church Bangall, NY 12506.
