Pine Plains, NY - Joan Couse, 76, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT.
She was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on November 27, 1934 the daughter of the late Floyd and Ethel May (Coons) Smith Sr.
Mrs. Couse was a waitress briefly at the Stissing House in Pine Plains, NY. In in later years she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pine Plains.
On May 28, 1955 at First Presbyterian Church she married Robert F. Couse Sr. He survives her at home.
In addition to her husband Robert, survivors include a son, Robert Couse Jr. of Pine Plains, NY; a daughter, Lisa Churton of Pine Plains, NY; three granddaughters, Alexis Reilly, Rebecca Churton, Bobbie Churton; two great grandchildren, Aiden Reilly, and Giacomo Meccariello.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Franklin Smith and Floyd Smith Jr.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
