Jeffrey A. Otty

Greenport - Jeffrey A. Otty, of Greenport, NY, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital. He was 51.

Born on January 20, 1960, he was the son of Robert T. Otty, Sr. and Dorothy Bennett Otty.

Jeffrey graduated from the Hudson City High School in 1978. Mr. Otty honorably served his country in the United States Navy.

He worked as a road foreman for the Columbia County Highway Department in Livingston, NY.

On September 10, 1994, he married Carrie Sigler in Ancram, NY. She survives him at home.

He was a member of the Hudson VFW Post 1314, a past commander of the American Legion Post #184 in Hudson, and a member of the Hudson Elks Lodge #787. In addition, he was a member of the Becraft Pumper Company No. 2 in Greenport.

Jeffrey was the president of the Hudson City School District Board of Education and a member of the Hudson Boosters, as well as a member of the Federation of Polish Sportsmen in Hudson, and the Germantown Park Commission.

In addition to his loving wife Carrie, he is survived by his parents, Dorothy and Robert T. Otty, Sr. of Greenport, NY; his children, Angel M. Otty of Hudson, NY, Trevor J. Otty of Hudson, NY; and Olivia K. Otty of Hudson, NY; brothers Robert T. Otty, Jr. of East Springfield, NY; Timothy T. Otty of Germantown, NY; and a grandson, Jayce Morrison.

A memorial service will be held at 6 PM on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Mt. Pleasant Reformed Church, Route 14, Greenport, NY, with Rev. Dave Tipple officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Hudson Elks Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the American Legion Post #184, 7 Fairview Ave., Hudson, NY 12534, the Columbia County VFW Post 1314, 544 Union St., Hudson, NY 12534, or the Hudson High School Booster Club, 2 Michael Ct., Hudson, NY 12534.
