Janice Ann Kunen

Janice A. Kunen, 67, of Ghent passed away February 2, 2024 at her residence. She was born on July 8, 1956 in Rhinebeck to the late Ralph E. Coons Sr and Louise (Beckley) Coons. Janice grew up in Pine Plains and graduated from Stissing Mountain High School in 1974. She worked as a painter and contractor for many years. As an animal lover, she enjoyed the natural wildlife and enjoyed feeding the turkeys, deer and birds around her home. Her rescue cat was her constant companion, but the real love of her life was her grandchildren and her family. She was a parishioner of the People's Bible Church in Claverack for many years as well.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Tanya Robinson and her husband, Jermaine. Her five grandchildren, Monique and her partner Josh, Jenya, Keith, Jermaine Jr., & Shamaine. Her great-granddaughter, Kahlani and her great niece & nephew, Alyssa & Ayden. She is also survived by her four sisters, Joy Ball, Joyce Caterino, Julia Coons and Joann Coons. In addition to her brother, Ralph “Bud” Coons Jr., she is also survived by a host of cousins.

A time to share memories and offer condolences will be held on February 11, 2024 from 1:00-2:00 at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains. The afternoon will conclude with a time for reflections. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Columbia & Greene Counties in Janice’s memory.
