Janet E. Dillinger, 90, of Clinton Corners passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025 at her home. She was born in Poughkeepsie on March 2, 1934 to Roscoe and Nettie (Mallard) Krom. She shared 62 years of marriage with William (Mike) Dillinger until his passing in 2014. They were high school sweethearts and married after graduating from Pine Plains Central School at the United Church of Christ on July 20, 1952.
Janet was a “farmer’s wife”, domestic engineer and a jack of all trades. She was a great mother to her four children, a skilled seamstress, an exceptional cook, an immaculate housekeeper and a good friend. She was an active member and president of the Stanford Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Janet is survived by her four children and their spouses, Kim and Eric Sprossel, William (Bill) Dillinger Jr., Michael and Catherine Dillinger and Lori and Michael Zampko. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Marc, Laurann, Billy, Mikey, Mandy, Cat, Zachary, Josh, Ben and nine great grandchildren, Jaylen, Alyssia, Teyden, Maliah, Hannah, Victoria, Alivia, Shae, Ava, and one great great grandchild Asher. Her youngest brother Donald Krom survives. She leaves behind her beloved dog Roxie. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Roscoe Krom and sisters Florence Duncan and Betty Schultz.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Janet’s caretakers, her daughter Lori, with the help of Tatyana, Cindy and Alice. Without them Janet would not have been able to remain at home. Also, thanks to Hospice assistance in comfort care just prior to her passing.
A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will be held on Saturday, February 15, from 10:00am till 12:00pm, at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains, Ny 12567. Where at Noon service will be held with the Rev. Jan Brooks officiating. Interment will take place privately at the Stanford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stanford Fire Company, PO Box 437, Stanfordville, NY 12581.
