Janet S. Parliman

Pine Plains, NY - Janet S. Parliman, 79, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born on August 14, 1930 in Pine Plains, NY the daughter of the late Henry D. and Thelma (Arnold) Sherwood.

Mrs. Parliman worked in the cafeteria for the Pine Plains Central School District.

Janet was a sixty six year Grange member having joined Pine Plains Grange #803 in 1944. She was obligated by her father, who was then serving as Master of the New York State Grange. She served as Master of Pine Plains Grange #803 for several years until it consolidated with Stanford Grange #808. There, she served in the office of Pomona from 2006 - 2009. She was a member of Dutchess County Pomona Grange #32 and served as Chairman of the Committee of Women's Activities in 1981 and 1996. She also served as Pomona Grange Master from 1988 - 1990. As a member of the New York State Grange, she held the office of State Ceres from 1991 - 1993. She was also a member of the National Grange.

Mrs. Parliman was also a life long member of the Pine Plains United Methodist Church.

Survives include her husband, Willet (Bill) Parliman of Pine Plains, NY; a step - son, Vincent Parliman of Pine Plains, NY; a sister, Phyllis Tillett of Westerville, OH; two step grandsons, Benjamin and Christopher; a cousin, Alma Bowman of Red Hook, NY; a nephew, David Tillett of Westerville, OH and a niece, Diana Tillett of Columbus, OH.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral service will be held at 4 pm, Sunday, June 13, from the Pine Plains United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregory Higgins officiating.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions to the Stanford Grange # 808 Stanfordville, NY 12581.
