James E. Shaw Sr.

James Edward Shaw Sr., 85 of Copake, NY passed away peacefully to soar with the eagles on Thursday January 14, 2021 at Fairview Hospital in Gt. Barrington, MA.

He was born on February 24, 1935 in Dawson, NE to Lawrence E. and Lulu (Jeffries) Shaw.

Jim was a ten year veteran of the United States Army from 1957 – 1967.

He attended the Bethany School in Missouri and was the owner/operator of the Daniels Dry Cleaning Co. in Iowa. Locally, he was employed as a welder by the W.B. McGuire Co. and as a caretaker and landscaper at Willoway.

He is survived by his wife Doris M. (Atkins) Shaw and his children, James E. Shaw Sr., Mary C. Shaw, Georgana L. Shaw, Sarah Miller O’Neil and Nicole Miller. He also leaves his grandsons, Thomas M. O’Neil and Andrew J. O’Neil. In addition he is survived by his siblings, Jacquelyn, Nora, Forrest, Freddie, Lawrence Jr. and William.

Private committal services with military honors were held on Thursday February 4, 2021 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville NY.

Arrangements are with the Peck and Peck Funeral Home of Copake NY.
